すごいね | "Sugoi Ne"
Sugoi Ne is a Japanese phrase that translates roughly into the American "awesome." This collection is the first under the 199X|AD label, and it draws inspiration from popular contemporary trends in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Japan. Shibuya is known for being the heart of Japan's street fashion scene. The garments in the collection include food prints symbolizing the "kawaii cafe" trend in Tokyo, where pancakes and waffles are marketed as delicate desserts. Dragon print shorts resemble Japan's kaiga paintings throughout history. Mesh, vinyl, and tribal prints were also used to emphasize Shibuya's unique trends not seen in the US.
